Inventory Management Software for Footwear and Shoe Retailers

A key challenge faced by the footwear industry is creating product records for the various shoe styles in an efficient manner. The Qdos Product Configurator simplifies the process and has features designed specifically for shoe retailers. Find out more in this article.

Qdos offers comprehensive business management software tailored specifically to shoe retailers and wholesalers. A critical component of the solution is the way products are created – using the Qdos Product Configurator (otherwise known as the fashion matrix).

The fashion matrix provides ease in the creation and management of shoe styles, their colours and sizes. Using this feature, styles can be added to your inventory in no time at all. Don’t just take our word for it – here are some key points regarding the fashion matrix directly from a Qdos footwear industry client, who uses this Qdos functionality on a daily basis:

Features of the Product Configurator (Fashion Matrix)

• You can see all information regarding colours and sizes/packs in one screen
• You can add quickly if you have new sizes or colours. Also works for removing sizes or colours if no longer available
• Product names can be rebuilt easily
• If price changes occur just update the product configurator and reapply prices according to price lists
• You can also update prices by certain colours only (Prices tab)
• Stock tab provides more information, eg if a size has a pending order
• Stock matrix is ideal for seeing available stock per location
• We particularly like using the product configurator when creating purchase/sales orders as you can see if sizes, colours, packs are available. It also gives you a total quantity, so great for checking as you go.

An example of the Qdos Product Configurator is shown below. Sizes and packs run horizontally across the screen for ease of use.

There are many more features of the Product Configurator, designed specifically for the apparel and shoe industry. Create and save templates for quick-create styles, and include attributes such as ‘Designer’ and ‘Material’. Styles can be created in advance (eg for upcoming seasons) and remain inactive until ready to start selling them in-store or online.

Qdos’ shoe POS software makes it easy to sell in-store – as soon as new styles are released they are available to sell in the Point of Sale. Scan product barcodes to add items to the sales transaction, or view the shoe style, colour, and sizes to make your selection. This screen includes stock availability in the current store or at any other store location.
