From donated item to online sale, without the bottleneck

Shopfront simplifies getting the product online. Qdos connects what happens after it gets there.

Qdos and Shopfront have formed a strategic technology partnership to connect AI-assisted product listing directly to the retail management platform Australian charity retailers already run on.

Charity retailers can now move donated stock from photograph to live Shopify listing faster — without leaving their existing system, without additional operational overhead, and without a separate ecommerce workflow running alongside the main retail operation.

Why donated stock is hard to list online

Unique donated stock doesn’t come with a product catalogue.

Every item may need to be photographed, identified, described, categorised, assessed and priced before it can be listed online. Across large donation volumes, that repeated manual effort becomes the ceiling on what a charity retailer can sell through ecommerce.

How it works

Donation → ShopFront → Qdos → Shopify → Sale

  1. Photograph — a staff member or volunteer photographs the donated item using Shopfront.
  2. Enrich — Shopfront uses AI to assist with the product title, description, category, condition assessment and pricing guidance.
  3. Route — the enriched product data is sent into Qdos through the integration.
  4. Publish — Qdos publishes the product to the store’s Shopify storefront.
  5. Operate — inventory, sales, fulfilment, loyalty, reporting and related retail operations continue through Qdos as normal.

What it means for your stores

  • List more donated stock online — reduce the manual effort required to prepare unique products for ecommerce.
  • Improve listing consistency — AI-assisted descriptions reduce reliance on individual product knowledge across volunteers and staff.
  • Keep operations connected — online stock stays inside the Qdos environment, not in a separate system that needs reconciling.
  • No new operational platform — staff interact with ShopFront for the listing step. Everything else continues through Qdos.

About Qdos and Shopfront

Qdos has supported Australian charity retail operations for over 15 years, providing point of sale, inventory and warehouse management, Shopify ecommerce, loyalty, reporting and accounting integration across some of Australia’s largest op shop networks.

Shopfront has built AI-assisted product listing tools specifically for the donated stock challenge — where each item is unique and conventional product catalogues don’t apply. Visit shopfront.app to learn more.

Together, they provide an end-to-end pathway from donated item to live online listing, fully connected to the retail operation.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Qdos and Shopfront integration do?

The integration connects Shopfront’s AI-assisted product listing capability to the Qdos retail management platform. When a volunteer or staff member photographs a donated item in Shopfront, the AI assists with listing details, which are then routed into Qdos and published to Shopify.

How does Shopfront use AI for charity retail?

Shopfront uses AI to assist with generating product titles, descriptions, categories, condition assessments and pricing guidance from product photographs — reducing the manual work required to prepare unique donated items for online sale.

What does Qdos manage after a product is created?

Once a product is listed, Qdos manages inventory, sales, fulfilment, loyalty, reporting, warehouse operations and accounting integration — keeping online and in-store operations connected in one platform.

Is the integration available now for Australian charity retailers?

Yes. Qdos is currently onboarding Australian charity retail clients for the Shopfront integration. Contact Gavin at Qdos to discuss your network’s requirements.
